FAQ Categories Driving Lessons

Can you pick me up from school/work?

Absolutely. As long as your school, workplace or other pickup point is within the suburbs that we service (just ask if you’re not sure) we can pick you up. You can start your driving lesson at school and finish it at home, or start your lesson at home and drive yourself into work under our instruction.

What will I learn in a lesson?

Over a series of lessons we’ll teach you everything you need to know to pass your driving test, but more importantly, to be a safe driver once you’re on your own.

We’ll take you over several routes in your neighbourhood to work on areas such as:

  • Hazard perception
  • Safe turning and braking
  • Following road rules
  • Traffic lights
  • Roundabouts
  • Reverse parallel parking
  • Kerbside stops
  • Three-point turns
  • Right-hand turns
  • Safe gap selection
  • Blind spots
  • Correct use of indicators

You may have never even sat in the drivers’ seat of a car before – that’s fine. We can teach you all the necessary skills from scratch, or we can help you polish and improve the driving skills you already have.

Are the cars safe?

Absolutely! Our cars are reliable, roadworthy, registered and regularly serviced. We’re fully insured for the protection of all in the car. All our cars have dual controls – this means there’s a second set of brakes that we can use to keep you safe.

I think I’m outside your region. Can you still teach me?

If you’re not sure if you’re in our teaching zone or not, please feel free to give us a call. If you’re not far from the suburbs we service we may still be able to help you. Alternatively you can catch a bus or train to our area and we will collect you from the station.

How do I claim my extra hours?

When you drive with a valid driving school, for the first ten hours you’ll get “3 for 1” – a one-hour class with an instructor goes down as three hours in your logbook. When you do a night lesson with an instructor, your logbook will show one night hour and two day hours.

This “3 for 1” option is only valid for the first ten hours you complete with an instructor, but that doesn’t mean you can only have ten hours of lessons! We’ve had students complete their entire learning with us. There’s no limit to regular lessons with us.

What experience do the instructors have?

Glenn has over 16 years teaching experience (and far more driving experience).
He holds a Cert IV in Driver Training.
We consider the safety of our students of paramount importance.

How do I prepare for my driving lesson?

There are a few things to think about before your driving lesson: Book a lesson in a timeframe that suits you. Make sure you have enough time to do the lesson and that you won’t be late for other appointments if you get back late. Wear comfortable shoes that you can drive in. If you wear glasses or contacts to drive, make sure you have them. You’ll need to bring your learners’ licence and your log book. You’ll need to bring payment in the form of cash or cheque unless you are paying by bank transfer. Please feel free to bring a bottle of water for yourself. Finally, make sure you have eaten before your lesson – it’s hard to focus when you’re hungry!

How do I pay for my lesson?

Payment types accepted: cash or bank transfer. Sorry no card or cheque facilities.

Please be patient!

Glenn's Driving School doesn't use a secretary; we prefer to speak directly to our students and book them in ourselves. This way we have fewer hassles, booking clashes and red tape. Because of this, when you call Glenn, you may well be calling him while he's instructing a student. Glenn will return your call as soon as he is able, rather than take a call when it may not be safe to do so.
